It Is Okay To Forget That All Eyes Are On You

Once you have set your blog to be Public, all eyes are going to be on you.

Yes, people will check out your blog posts; some of your viewers would be comprised of:

  • Your fellow bloggers.
  • Strangers who found your blog via a search engine.
  • Your family members.
  • Your colleagues at work.

Dear friend, you might as well prepare yourself for entering into the public domain.

Your Shyness Will Dissipate

If you completely ignore the fact that all eyes are on you, there is a very high probability of you letting your hair down.

From a psychological perspective, shyness has a way of making people build walls around themselves โ€” the kind that is created with the sole purpose of keeping strangers out.

Dear friend, no one is going to eat you alive for being yourself on WordPress.

You might encounter a troll or two (But, that would be an extremely rare occurrence).

The less shy you are, the more you will be able to express yourself via your personal blog.

Anyone who has a serious problem with shyness and wishes to overcome it should read, Is It Possible to Learn How to Not Be Shy? 9 Ways to Overcome It by Shonna Waters, Ph.D.

Not Everyone Is Interested In You

Even though your blog has managed to catch the attention of some people, there will be those who will peruse the content without any sort of emotional attachment (Hey, you should consider yourself lucky because those types of people usually do not read articles from others who are outside of their list of favourite bloggers).

In your day-to-day life, people will look at you while you are walking on the pavement, but looking at you is not a true indicator of them being interested in you; they probably looked your way because you were within the same vicinity as them.

Likewise, a random person would come across your blog post on the Reader due to the fact that they were scrolling through a list of other posts from other people, saw yours, scanned the content of your blog post and moved on.

Those of you who are overly self-conscious would find it very comforting to know that not everyone who looks your way is interested in you.

There Will Be Those Who Would Be Interested In Every Move You Made

For the sake of maintaining a peaceful mind, it is good not to think too much about your fans being interested in every move that you make.

The God’s/Goddess’s truth is that you have no control over your fans monitoring your social media posts and your blog posts.

If you have a certain level of popularity, people will pay close attention to everything that you do.

Bloggers who love being the centre of other people’s attention will have no problem with that.

However, bloggers who have a problem with being the centre of other people’s attention should forget that all eyes are on them.

Spammers Have You On Their Radar

Yes, my friend, spammers worldwide have their eyes on you too (They want to spam the living daylights out of your WordPress blog).

Regarding spammers, it is okay for you to forget that they have their eyes on you?

Why?

Because Akismet has you covered!

In all honesty, Akismet is not perfect; but it still does a wonderful job of keeping my blog free of spam.

The Bottom Line

By willfully forgetting that all eyes are on us, we can go about blogging without feeling pressured.

In my case, I am quite okay with having all eyes on me.

Why?

Because I am not on the list of the most wanted criminals.

Also, I want my blog posts to get all of the attention that they can get.

Dear friend, if you do not want a lot of eyes focused on your blog, place it on the Private setting (That way, no one but you [and those whom you have granted special access to] will only be able to read your blog posts).

Great blog Renard. I tend to be so focused on writing and sharing, that I’m not thinking about the attention. I must admit it’s strange when I see students wandering around waving my posts in front of their classmates as though it’s their most important possession ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
