7 Health Benefits Of Grapes

Grapes

Grapes are one of those fruits that I always had access to.

Luckily for me, grapes are easily accessible here in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Grapes are sold by some street vendors and shops that specialize in fruits and they are readily available in supermarkets throughout the country.

The exorbitant price that they are sold at is enough to cause a frugal buyer to stay away from them (The rise in food prices has a lot to do with it, plus all of the grapes that are sold here are imported).

When you love grapes, you will save up a portion of your money to buy a bunch of them.

On a more merrier note, grapes are filled with lots of nutritional value.

Therefore, the person who eats them is guaranteed to reap the health benefits of grape consumption.

So, without further ado, it is time for me to let you know what the health benefits of eating grapes are.

1.) Grapes Are Packed With Antioxidants

Antioxidants aid in defending cells against harm brought on by free radicals.

Free radicals are insecure molecules that harm our bodies through oxidation.

Chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and even cancer can be brought on by oxidative damage.

These dangerous free radicals are neutralized by antioxidants, which shield us from their negative effects.

2.) Grapes Contain An Anti-Inflammatory Compound

Studies show that grapes are rich in quercetin, which is a kind of flavonoid.

Quercetin aids in lowering inflammation and may help ease arthritic discomfort.

To put it simply, eating grapes can help in keeping the pain that is associated with arthritis away.

3.) Grape Juice Is Great For Keeping The Skin Youthful-Looking

For healthier-looking skin, drink some grape juice. It has a lot of vitamin C, which keeps your skin looking young.

But did you know that tannins included in grape juice help lessen the look of wrinkles and scars?

Tannins are organic astringents that naturally tighten skin, giving it a smoother and firmer appearance.

Hey, I do not mind looking younger.

And, I am sure that you would not mind looking at least half your age.

I have a strong feeling that the people who have read this will be eating lots of grapes from now on.

4.) Grapes Are Great For Weight Loss

Red grapes are excellent foods for weight loss because they contain a lot of anthocyanins, a type of flavonoid.

Studies have shown that people who consume roughly half a cup of grapes every day lose between one and two pounds per week without making any dietary changes.

So, eating red grapes will help you to attain that supermodel figure.

5.) Grapes Are Good For The Digestive Tract

Grapes’ high fibre content aids in digestion.

Consuming whole grapes can prolong your feeling of fullness by reducing the rate at which food enters the digestive system.

Grape skins and seeds that have been dried also include phytochemicals like flavonoids; which aid in the reduction of inflammation in the gut.

6.) Grapes Can Help Greatly In The Area Of Cancer Prevention

Evidence points to grapes’ potential role in cancer prevention.

According to a study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, the antioxidant resveratrol, which is present in grapes, inhibits the growth of breast cancer cells.

Another study demonstrated that the antioxidant flavonoids, which are also present in grapes, kill prostate cancer cells.

7.) Grapes Can Help Keep Our Hearts Healthy

Resveratrol, a component of grapes, lowers cholesterol and prevents plaque from forming in the arteries.

Additionally, resveratrol lowers blood pressure and boosts heart rate variability.

It is nice to know that grape consumption plays an integral part in keeping our hearts healthy.

Final Thoughts

Grapes do provide us with some wonderful health benefits.

To recap:

  • Grapes are packed with antioxidants.
  • Grapes contain an anti-inflammatory compound.
  • Grape juice is great for keeping the skin youthful-looking.
  • Grapes are great for weight loss.
  • Grapes are good for the digestive tract.
  • Grapes can help greatly in the area of cancer prevention.
  • Grapes can help keep our hearts healthy.

Regular grape consumption will enhance the quality of your health; so, eat some of them today or whenever you feel like pampering yourself.
