Out With The Old, In With The New

As we bid adieu and welcome in the New Year, let’s raise our glasses to new beginnings and a time of reflection. New Years resolutions aside for those of you that make them, it’s important we share joy and do unto others not only during the holiday season but all year. Then, for resolution makers, we can set the year straight and resolve to be whatever we want to be.

The old year pulseless and tired from judgment

relieved to slumber in the ages

the mausoleum of time waits

grieving remains decrepit

unheard voices pitied

lost in lonely days

growing shorter

from sunsets

hidden

hushed

may

the world

welcome in

landscaped passion

and magical dreams

a sentence to be served

by poetry created

not to judge and right the wrongs

but celebrate universal peace

greeting the sunrise with a morning smile

The poetry form is a double and reversed Etheree. 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables and vice-versa.

The phrase “out with the old, in with the new” means to move forward, literally. We must endeavor to let go of the good, the bad and the ugly in order to cleanse the past and make way for new expectations.

Undoubtedly, 2020 was a different year for many of us. I feel we should, in the year 2021, keep our attitude in check and be responsible for our actions. Plus, bring about a positive change in our faith, our force, and our focus. Let’s live up to the promises we make to ourselves and our loved ones and create the happiest New Year ever.
