Those of us that blog and write are familiar with taglines. If you had to tagline yourself, what would your tagline be?
#Perfectionist #Author #Creative #Writer #Judgmental #Manager #Bold #Entrepreneur #Fearless #Mentor #Myself #Sales #Caring #CEO #WhoCares #Financial Advisor #I don’t know #Mechanic #Why do you ask #Insurance Agent #It’s your dime #Real Estate Agent #Can you hear me now #Property Manager #Hello, to name a few.
What about these taglines and you? What do you want to say about yourself?
I am talking about how you tag YOU, and not your work or creations.
Let’s back up to the beginning of my discussion and taglines. Your work is the result of your tap into your inner self. You have your own style and you’re good at it and in fact, you’re excellent at it! How do you describe this to yourself and to your followers?
Step back and look at yourself. Determine how you want to appear to your followers. Be good at what you do and most of all be proud. There are no fixed expectations, except for appeal. Your artfully crafted words will define you and who you are. Your tagline is yourself, making the direction of your journey as a writer clear.
Whatever your decision, think about your words and your actions. Whether it be praise or criticism, best be ready for what may come your way. This will enable you to stand on ground you are willing to defend or at least understand its value.
One’s reputation is under scrutiny every minute of the day. It appears there is a need to show disrespect with whom we disagree and drawing in others to side with us. I’ve also noticed that statements of approval have become less popular. And hate statements are increasing as if the norm.
You may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you may kill me with your hatefulness, but still, like air, I’ll rise! – Maya Angelou
Opinions have become the center of how you not only perceive people but how you communicate with them, whether in person or in writing.
A tainted reputation may follow you forever with no hope for resolution. That tagline I spoke of earlier can change and not in your favor.
He who worries about reputation, has a reputation to worry about. – Edwin Leibfreed
In conclusion, we all must be mindful of what we say and do and take responsibility for our actions.
The nicest feeling in the world is to do a good deed anonymously and have somebody find out. – Oscar Wilde
