Giving Your Blog The Attention That It Deserves

If you truly love your blog, you will give it the type of attention that it deserves.

Why?

Because neglected blogs tend to suffer in the following ways:

  • A severe drop in incoming views.
  • People unsubscribing from them.
  • A lack of new blog posts added to them by its owner or its team of authors.
  • People forgetting about their existence on the world wide web.
  • Abandonment by its owner.

Dear friend, it does not take a rocket scientist to let you know, that your blog must be given the attention that it deserves (Especially if you want it to be active in the blogosphere for a long time to come).

So, are you giving your blog the attention that it truly deserves?

Add New Content To Your Blog In A Consistent Manner

Search engines on the world wide web (as well as viewing audiences from around the globe), will pay your blog greater attention if you add new content to it consistently.

Where updating your blog with fresh content is concerned, it is up to you to figure out if you are going to publish new content on your blog:

  • On a daily basis.
  • A few days a week.
  • Once a week.
  • On a fortnightly basis.
  • On a monthly basis.

Simply choose one of those blogging schedules that you know that you can easily maintain.

Those of you who have been following Renard’s World for quite some time would know that I chose to publish new content on my blog weekly.

Dear friend, publishing new content on your blog in a consistent manner is a wonderful way of giving that blog of yours the attention that it deserves.

Your Blog Will Need To Stand Out From The Crowd

Another great way for your blog to get the attention that it deserves is for it to stand out from the crowd; this can be accomplished by:

  • Publishing high-quality content.
  • Being different from other blogs.
  • Having a deep understanding of your viewing audience.
  • Connecting with your readers on an emotional level.
  • Using a professional-looking theme (Preferably one that is easy to navigate and contains fonts that are easy to read).

Almost everyone knows that the blogosphere is heavily saturated with blogs.

Are you doing the types of things that will help your blog stand out from the crowd?

Be A Guest Blogger For A Reputable Blogger’s Blog (Optional)

You are probably wondering, “How does guest blogging for a reputable blogger help my blog to get the attention that it deserves?”

Well, just in case you did not know, being a guest blogger for a reputable blogger’s blog is a great way to promote your own blog because you will get a high-quality link to your blog’s URL; which in turn will send traffic back to you!

For the record, getting the opportunity to be a guest blogger on a reputable blogger’s blog is no easy task (Anyone who is serious about guest blogging would not allow this fact to scare them away from their dream).

Adam Connell’s, The No-Fail Guide to Guest Blogging Strategy, will provide you with the information that you need.

Ask Your Friends To Share The Links To Your Blog Posts Via Their Social Media Accounts

Asking your friends to share the links to your blog posts via their social media accounts is another great way for your blog to get the attention that it deserves (This can be achieved via a call to action; which can be situated at the end of your blog post).

Luckily for me, the links to my blog posts have been shared on:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Mix
  • Tumblr
  • LinkedIn
  • FlipBoard

Now, do not be like the novice user of the self-hosted version of WordPress who forgot to add share buttons to their blog (Yes, that actually happened to someone who was a member of a Facebook blogging group that I was once a part of).

Let That Personality Of Yours Shine

Letting that personality of yours shine via your blog posts is another wonderful method of giving your blog the attention that it deserves.

We are all blessed with a personality (And, one of the best things about that, is personalities differ from person to person).

Any blogger can let their personality shine by:

  • Being authentic.
  • Writing the way that they actually talk.
  • Letting their viewers see how enthusiastic they really are about their chosen topic.

Dear friend, you are one of a kind; never be afraid to let your personality shine via your blog posts.

By Not Giving Up

Giving up is certainly out of the equation (You cannot give your blog the attention that it deserves by giving up).

It is an unfortunate fact, that some bloggers expect their blogs to gain a lot of attention from others overnight.

The truth is that it takes a lot of a person’s valuable time and effort in the area of content creation; this must be done consistently if they ever expect others to take notice of their blog posts.

Dear friend, if you do not give your blog the attention that it needs, others will refuse to pay it the attention that it truly deserves.

You are probably aware of the fact, that success varies from person to person; for example, it might take a blogger six months for others to take notice of their blog in the blogosphere, whereas it might take another blogger one year for their blog to get noticed by others.

Forget about instant success (That, my friend, is a pipe dream).

Create The Type Of Content That Other People Will Want To Link To

Oh, yes! Creating the type of content that other people will want to link to will help to give your blog the attention that it deserves.

Bloggers usually link to the following types of content:

  • Blog posts that are informative.
  • Blog posts that solve people’s problems.
  • Blog posts that are evergreen.
  • Blog posts that specialize in a niche.

It is a pity, that a lot of bloggers (both personal and professional) seldom think of creating the type of content that other people will want to link to.

Final Thoughts

In a nutshell, you can give your blog the attention that it deserves by:

  • Adding new content to your blog consistently.
  • Doing the things that will make your blog stand out from the crowd.
  • Being a guest blogger on the blog of a reputable blogger.
  • Asking your friends to share the links for your blog posts via their social media accounts.
  • Letting that personality of yours shine.
  • Not giving up on your blog.
  • Creating the type of content that other people will want to link to.

    1. 🙂 Thank you!

To be honest, I am not too keen on the idea of promoting my blog in the comment section of other bloggers because that sort of behaviour is often viewed as a spammy one.

  1. I found a new blog I enjoyed reading on woodworking once that I liked and started to comment on. But the blogger did not comment back and on observation after, to see if he commented back to others that left responses on his blog, he didn’t do that either. So I unfollowed.
Not the first blog I ended up unfollowing. But thankfully, I have not come across many like that.

The most reason I have unfollowed a blog is when they have been inactive for 6 months, or more.

    1. 🙂 Thank you, Liz. I also hate it when other bloggers refuse to reply to the comments that I made in their comments thread.

If a blogger says that they are going on a hiatus, I would not unfollow them for not updating their blog in a timely manner.

In most instances, a blog that has not been updated for a period of six months is usually abandoned.

      1. Yes, if a blogger mentions they are on a hiatus, I would still follow.

I see it as blogs are abandoned too, when not updated by that length of time.

There were a couple of bloggers I followed this year, that also just lasted months, before their blog was abandoned.

      1. I appreciate comments too and I certainly don’t get either why a blogger will not respond to comments, when they have their comments enabled.

  2. I’ve been trying to be consistent in my writing. but sometimes it’s just not possible to maintain a regular schedule. But I think it’s still okay as long as I don’t stop writing

    1. 🙂 You probably need way more time for yourself and blogging has clashed with your lifestyle.

I would like to suggest that you update your blog monthly (That should be an easy thing for you to accomplish).

  3. Excellent post Renard! I think I do a pretty good job with our blog. Animal bloggers are a unique genre & we all have taglines or interesting Widgets & our own unique way of blogging like our 4 leggeds. Sometimes when I decide to blog as myself I forget how to which is pretty funny in itself. My pet peeve is the same as most people here have said: people who do NOT reply to comments left. It is like having a one-sided conversation with one’s self!
You will be proud of me (I hope!) Today I went to do a post & it was Blok Editor. At first I panicked (no surprise there!) Then I calmed myself & read thru’ the info & found the Classic Block Editor & used it & Voila’ I was able to do BellaDharma’s new post with phots & NOT lose my mind!!!!
Guess you CAN teach old (dogs) & Ladies new tricks, hehehe….
    Sincerely, Sherri-Ellen & **purrss** BellaDharma

    1. 🤔 Hmm. Now, I understand the reason my friend, Hugh (and other serious-minded bloggers) moderate their comments. This comment of yours does not add value to the conversation.

  4. I don’t know. I have seen some mediocre blogs with bad writing get more views than informative bloggers. I guess it all boils down to the readers and what they are looking for.

  5. Great post. Sometimes you do get tired, and have lapses. I’ve been fighting one of my own lately. After 12 years of blogging, and now 77, you kind of wonder when TO PULL the PLUG!! This covid has not helped, as I’m a birdwatcher and haven’t even been birding for months.
Thanks for the encouragement to Keep on Keeping ON!

  6. I think the content creating part is the must for a blogger. A routine, you have always focused on, really works well for blog. Thank you for sharing 🙂
