10 Tips That Will Help You To Maintain Your Zeal For Blogging

It is no secret, that a person’s zeal for blogging can dwindle at times.

Now, what if I told you, “It is possible for you to maintain your zeal for blogging,” would you believe me?

Some of you might view that statement as a fanciful one.

However, I can assure you, that it is possible for you to maintain your zeal for blogging (And, without further ado, I am going to show you how to go about making that a reality of yours).

1.) Create Content For Your Blog When Your Energy Level Is High

What is the first thing that you want to do when you are physically and mentally exhausted?

Get some sleep of course.

We need adequate amounts of rest in order for our mind and our body to perform at an optimal level.

From experience, I can tell you that creating content in an exhausted state is a bad idea because grammatical and typographical errors will find their way into your blog posts (And, you will want to crawl underneath a rock and hide for the rest of the week when you have found out that you published them).

So, my friend, it would be in your best interest to create content for your blog when you are fully rested (There is a much higher chance of you being coherent in a well-rested state).

2.) Think About Someone You Love

Thinking about someone that you love will put you in a positive frame of mind as well as provide you with an extra boost of energy.

Could you remember how you felt when you met that special someone?

You stayed up the entire night thinking about them and you felt as though you could accomplish the impossible (If you have ever been in love, you would know what I am talking about).

Whenever you are about to compose the draft copy for your blog post, you can secretly dedicate it to the person whom you have a crush on (You will end up writing it with ease).

Believe it or not, the state of being in love brings out the best in us (Which is the reason why this method works).

3.) Delve Into Topics That You Genuinely Love

Unfortunately, there are bloggers who waste their time writing about things that they are not genuinely interested in.

As a matter of fact, I do not recommend writing articles that are based on topics that you lack interest in.

Why?

Because it requires way more effort to write an article that is based on a topic that you are not interested in.

Some bloggers have placed themselves into this trap because their chosen topic is based on a popular niche.

Dear friend, writing articles that are based on the topics that you genuinely love is a form of authenticity (And, when it comes to blogging, you will want to be as authentic as possible).

Besides, it is much easier for you to write about the things that you are genuinely interested in.

4.) Think About Your Devoted Readers

If you have been blogging for quite some time, you would be aware of the fact, that there are people who are eagerly awaiting your upcoming blog posts (They subscribed to your blog because they are interested in reading what you have to say).

Unknowingly (or knowingly), you have made someone’s day — you inspired them with your blog post; it was exactly what they needed to read.

You, my friend, are an asset to your entire blogging community and the blogosphere needs more people like you.

And, it would be somewhat unfair of you to leave them hanging in mid-air.

Knowing that you have devoted readers who are ready to read every word that you published will help you to maintain your zeal for blogging.

5.) Associate Yourself With People That Bring Out The Best In You

It is no huge secret, that there are people who have a way of bringing out the best in us (Certain people do have a positive influence on us).

There are people who see our positive traits and bring them to our attention by pointing them out; for example, if you are a wonderful singer, they will not hesitate to tell you that you have a natural talent for singing and they will encourage you to keep on singing.

I will admit, that I like it a lot whenever someone highlights one of my positive traits.

People who bring out the best in you are without a doubt, the type of people who have a way of changing you for the better.

So, it is better to associate yourself with people who lift you up; whereas, associating yourself with people that bring out the worst in you, will cause you to dwell on the negative.

Do keep in mind, that you will maintain your zeal for blogging, once you are feeling good about yourself.

6.) Find Innovative Ways Of Dealing With Depression

Those of us who have been depressed will know, that we are not eager to do anything when we are in a depressed state.

People who are depressed will:

  • Develop a sense of helplessness.
  • Become angry or irritable.
  • Develop insomnia or oversleep.
  • Experience weight loss or weight gain.
  • Have problems concentrating.
  • Engage in reckless behaviour; such as substance abuse.
  • Experience all sorts of physical pain; such as back pain, aching muscles and headaches.

Depressed people are seldom in the mood to blog (And, as a blogger, you will have to find innovative ways of dealing with your depression).

7.) Never Doubt Your Ability To Blog

Strangely, some people have lost their zeal to blog because they are not sure if they are capable of creating content for their blog on a regular basis.

Creating content for your blog may appear somewhat difficult if you are new to blogging.

However, the more you do it is the better you get at it.

In my case, I do not doubt my ability to blog because I have been publishing articles for quite a number of years (Therefore, it has become second nature).

Give me a blank text document and I will happily fill it with words.

Dear friend, with constant practice, you will be able to do the same.

So, wipe the doubt of your ability to blog from your mind.

William Shakespeare once said, “Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.”

You are better off believing in your ability to blog.

8.) Make The Blogging Process Easier For Yourself

It is human nature to shy away from the things that we deem difficult (Which is the reason why you must make blogging easier for yourself).

You can make the blogging process easier for yourself by:

  • Coming up with a topic in advance.
  • Doing your research in advance.
  • Creating an outline for your blog post.
  • Creating your content in small bits and pieces until it is finished.
  • Proofreading your blog post on a separate day.
  • Searching for stock photos for your blog on a separate day or creating your own photos for your blog on a separate day.
  • Scheduling your blog post.

Being well-organized is an important factor in making the blogging process easier for you.

And, guess what?

You will maintain your zeal for blogging once you have perceived it as something that is easy for you to do.

9.) Have A Genuine Desire To See Your Blog Grow

Dear friend, having a genuine desire to see your blog grow will help you in the area of maintaining your zeal for blogging.

I am speculating, that most bloggers will love to see their blog grow.

Also, most bloggers will want to see their blog evolve.

And, they would like to see the list of their followers grow too.

In my case, I would love to see what Renard’s World would be like two years from now.

Do you have a genuine desire to see your blog grow?

10.) Remember The Joy Of Interacting With Your Blogging Community

For the record, I enjoy interacting with my blogging community.

I certainly enjoy:

  • Reading their blog posts.
  • Leaving them meaningful comments in the comments section of their blog.
  • Responding to the comments that my fellow bloggers made on my blog.
  • Encouraging my fellow bloggers to blog by cheering them on.

Bloggers who enjoy interacting with their blogging community are usually the ones who will always maintain their zeal for blogging.

Do you like interacting with your blogging community?

Final Thoughts

To recap, you can maintain your zeal for blogging by doing the following things:

  • Making it a priority of yours to create content for your blog when your energy level is high.
  • Focusing your attention on someone you love.
  • Publishing the types of articles that are based on the topics that you are genuinely interested in.
  • Keeping your devoted readers in mind.
  • Making an extra effort to associate with those people that bring out the best in you.
  • Dealing with your depression in innovative ways.
  • Believing strongly in your ability to blog.
  • Coming up with methods that make blogging easier for you.
  • Having that genuine desire to see that blog of yours grow.
  • Remembering the joy you had when you interacted with your fellow bloggers.

Dear friend, it is possible for you to maintain your zeal for blogging and if you have lost it, you can regain it.

So, there is really no need for you to give up blogging.

  2. All good advice, some of which I do now. I plan my posts a week in advance and gather photos and do research a week or two ahead. When I go to bed and can’t I often start composing my next post in my head.

  3. As usual great advice. No 1 is the most practical one, often overlooked. Then about going with topics you love and creating a draft post are the ones I already do. And it does make blogging easier. Thanks a lot for sharing these tips.

  4. I pity bloggers who fall into the trap of blogging about topics they have no interest in. Many bloggers who blog about a topic only because it’s trending often give up blogging quickly because a time will come when blogging will seem a chore to them. What with all the research they would have to make, it will be hard for them to write about such topics without plagiarising articles that have already been written on the topics.

    This is great advice, Renard.

These are all fabulous pointers and one l would add, although some might argue that it’s covered in items 2 and 9, they might be right, or maybe it’s my interpretation, but l believe that by having a genuine passion for what you are doing which is producing and creating content and writing – you are doing what you love so you are naturally passionate for it.

  7. Thanks for this! I am new to blogging and I am doing a series based on one my main reasons that I started blogging in the first place. Writing is therapeutic for me as I know it is for most people who write. I’m going through a part of my life where I’m trying to figure out what I want and need. I thought real therapy would be helpful but I don’t have access so “I gotta shrink myself” was born! I committed myself to post a weekly session like therapy and it keeps me accountable. It’s great sometimes and feels good and sometimes it feels like work! I’m going to keep it going no matter what!
