Alana yawned while she looked at the monitor; she had just published another one of her blog posts.
“How are things going, Alana?” Lyndon asked; he was always the type of husband who liked supporting whatever his wife did.
Alana looked at her husband and said, “I am okay, Lyndon. I am just a bit tired.”
“Does it have anything to do with that blog of yours, sweetheart?” Lyndon asked.
“Yes, honey. It does!” Alana said.
Lyndon walked over to his wife and placed a cup of hot black tea and a plate of chocolate cookies right next to her computer. “Please tell me all about it, my love,” Lyndon said with a very inquisitive look on his face.
Alana sighed loudly and said, “This whole blogging thing is taking a whole lot out of me. I am always bursting my brain trying to come up with new content.”
Lyndon laughed as though he had heard something humorous; he said, “Darling, you are the most creative woman I know. You can never run out of ideas.”
Alana kissed Lyndon gently on his lips and said, “You always had a way with words. Maybe, you should create a blog of your own.”
Lyndon laughed again. “No way, honey! Blogging is not for me!”
They both laughed and cuddled each other.
“So, how should I handle this blogging thing? At times, it sucks up all of my energy,” Alana said.
“Oh, the answer is simple. You need to take a break, my love,” Lyndon said.
Alana became quiet; she was thinking about what her husband had just said. “You are right, Lyndon. I have been blogging one year straight without any sort of break.”
“Maybe, you can take a week off,” Lyndon suggested.
“No. One week away from blogging is too long,” Alana said. “I think that I would start publishing blog posts three times a week instead of updating my blog every day.”
“That is not a bad idea at all, Alana,” Lyndon said. “You will feel more refreshed and you wouldn’t have to feel as though blogging is sucking away at your life-force.”
“Okay, it’s final!” Alana exclaimed. “No more blogging for me on a daily basis and I would be away from blogging like every other day.”
Lyndon smiled at his wife and said, “I knew that you would figure it out eventually. Now, are you going to eat that cookie? If you don’t want it, I would like to have it.”
Alana pushed the plate with the last chocolate cookie closer to her husband; it was an indication that it was okay for him to go with it.
Bloggers Who Stayed Away Because The Pressure Was Too Much
Now, most blogging experts have agreed, that it is not necessary for bloggers to update their blogs daily.
However, it is merely a blogger’s choice to update their blog on a daily basis.
And, there are a lot of bloggers who find it very difficult to update their blog daily (They are the ones who could benefit by posting their articles a few days a week, or weekly).
In my case, I have been blogging daily for years. I have no intentions of slowing down. I am quite comfortable with publishing blog posts on a daily basis.
Now, I would like to encourage you to blog at a pace that is most comfortable for you and you should not feel compelled to update your blog, because everyone is doing it.
If blogging becomes somewhat of a burden for you, it might cause you to stay away from it permanently (And, that would be a very bad thing).
I have known bloggers to quit, because they could not handle the pressure of blogging regularly.
Is the pressure currently too much for you?
Or, are you comfortable with your current blogging schedule?
Bloggers Who Stayed Away Because Of Technical Difficulties
Unfortunately, technical difficulties do take place occasionally; it may take the form of the following things:
- A problematic computer.
- Problems with the WiFi.
- An unreliable service provider.
In the past, I had to stay away from blogging for a little while, because it was my service provider’s policy to send a technician within three business days (Which at the time meant, no internet for me on Saturday and Sunday).
Other people have experienced service outages due to upgrades, damaged electricity poles and equipment (such as the routers) refusing to work.
Technical difficulties can be a major setback for a blogger.
Did technical difficulties ever keep you back from blogging?
Bloggers Who Stayed Away Because It Was Vacation Time
There are some bloggers who will not blog during their vacation period. Their vacation time is, for them to rest and recuperate.
Now, we cannot get angry with a blogger for taking a well-deserved vacation; especially when it helps in the area of rejuvenating their mind, body and spirit.
When was the last time that you went on a vacation?
For the record, it would be wise to let your readers know that you are going on a vacation (That should prevent them from thinking that you abandoned your blog).
Also, you do not necessarily have to leave the country in order to enjoy your vacation. As a matter of fact, you can stay right in your own country. You can do the following things on your vacation period:
- Attend one of your local beaches.
- Hike in the wilderness.
- Visit an amusement park.
- Stay home and sleep for a very long period.
Those are merely some of the things that you can do on your vacation while you stay far away from your computer, smartphone or tablet.
When your vacation period is over, you can happily return to blogging.
Bloggers Who Stayed Away Because They Were Busy
Have you ever read blog posts from bloggers apologising to their readers for not blogging, because they were busy?
There is a high probability that you came across blog posts like those in your WordPress Reader, because they are so common.
Here are some of the things that can keep a blogger so busy, that they are almost unable to find the time to blog:
- Working at two jobs.
- Attending university.
- Taking care of a newborn baby.
In reality, those people can still update their blogs at least once a week (But apparently, they are too busy to figure that out).
Bloggers Who Stayed Away Because They Lost Interest In Their Blogs
It is a known fact, that people do lose interest in their blogs; here are a few reasons why:
- They were not getting the number of views that they wanted.
- They thought that blogging was too difficult.
- They had a disagreement with a troll.
- They thought that they were blogging in vain.
- They made very little money from blogging.
Bloggers usually abandon their blogs when they become disillusioned with them.
If you are one of those bloggers who happens to be losing their faith in blogging, I highly recommend that you read my article, 6 Reasons Why You Should Never Give Up On Your Blog.
So, my friend, have any of those things that I mentioned above caused you to stay away from your blog?
Please feel free to tell me all about it in the comments section of my blog.
