Currently, there are lots of depressed bloggers in the blogosphere; I am not too surprised about that, because bloggers are human beings and human beings do get depressed at times.
The good news is, that some of those bloggers are getting professional help; they are either seeing a well-trained psychologist or a psychiatrist with the intentions of getting rid of their depression.
Now, I am not a doctor. But, even though I am not a doctor, I do know of seven effective methods that bloggers can use to overcome their depression.
Do you want to know what those seven effective methods are?
Well, of course you do!
So, without further ado, let us find out what they are.
1.) Visit The Blog Of A Blogger With A Joyful Personality
Oh, I can just imagine some of you thinking to yourselves, “Hmm. Why haven’t I thought about that?”
Well, visiting the blog of a blogger with a joyful personality will help you to alleviate your depression.
And, why is that so?
Because, those joyful bloggers have a habit of letting their joyful personalities exude in their blog posts.
Bloggers with a positive aura tend to inspire us and lift our mood; they remove us from the darkness and they bring us into the light.
Believe it or not, the world wide web is filled with a lot of positive-minded people.
The following types of blogs are known to lift the spirits of people:
- Blogs that teach us something new about life (As in the case of blogs that deal with things of a philosophical nature).
- Blogs that specialise in humour.
- Blogs where their beloved caretakers highlight their beautiful pets.
- Blogs that specialise in spirituality.
- Blogs that specialise in beautiful artwork.
- Blogs that teach us how to prepare a recipe (Food tends to put people in a positive mood).
Why suffer when you can can find yourself an uplifting blog.
Blogs are capable of making us feel better; especially when the topic is an uplifting one and the blogger has a joyful personality.
Besides, joyful personalities are intoxicating.
2.) Listen To Your Favourite Genre Of Music
Yes my friend, music can alleviate your depression too.
In my case, I like to listen to electronic dance music; it lifts my mood.
If you start listening to your favourite genre of music, it is going to lift your mood too.
The biggest irony is, that you already know this. But, instead of listening to your favourite genre of music, you allowed the depression to engulf your entire being.
So, are you going to make it a habit of listening to your favourite genre of music from now on?
3.) Talk To A Friend
Another great way to overcome your depression is, to talk to a friend.
Think of it as a case of venting your emotions; you talk while your friend listens attentively to everything that you are saying.
In some instances, a friend will be in the position to provide you with some really good advice, because they might have been in a similar position in the past.
And, even though your friend might be unable to provide you with advice, you still end up feeling much better, because you talked about whatever it was that bothered you.
So, the next time you are feeling depressed, talk to one of your friends (Preferably, someone who is a great listener).
4.) Engage Yourself In Prayers
The power of prayer is another wonderful way to combat depression.
I do not care if you are a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu or a Buddhist. Once you engage yourself in some type of spiritual practice, you would be in a much better position to fight off depression.
So, get in the habit of praying regularly.
You can say something simple like, “God, it is in your hands now and all is well.”
If you are depressed, pick yourself up and go to a random church meeting.
There is also the option of reading the Holy Bible (Or some other book that is affiliated with your religion).
5.) Get Sufficient Sleep
Unfortunately, a lot of us do not get enough sleep (Especially, those bloggers who are always burning their figurative candles at both ends).
We need to get ourselves an average of seven to nine hours of sleep in order for us to be healthy.
So, please do not stay up all night with the intentions of being entertained by your electronic devices.
There is nothing wrong with watching Netflix in moderation. The troubled aspect of it is, when you stay up until the rooster crows.
Dear friend, lack of sleep can lead to us to being irritable and depressed.
So, please make it your solemn duty to get your nightly quota of sleep.
6.) Eat Foods That Fight Depression
Yes, my friend, eating the right types of food can help you fight depression; those are the foods that contain magnesium and zinc.
Since I am into the vegan lifestyle, I will share with you some of those vegan foods that fight depression; they are:
- Black beans
- Dark chocolate
- Pumpkin seeds
So, the next time you are feeling a bit down, try eating some of those foods that I mentioned.
7.) Stop Dwelling On The Negative Stuff
One of the reasons why a lot of people are depressed is, the fact that they are in the habit of replaying negative events in their head. They spend their so-called peaceful moments thinking about all of trouble that they endured from their boss and their colleagues at work and the long, almost never-ending traffic jam that they went through on their way home.
Do you see a pattern here?
People are wilfully spending the present thinking about all of the negative things that transpired in the past.
How many of us are good at leaving all of the negative stuff that happened to us in the past?
I am speculating that a very small percentage of people can actually do that.
Stop contaminating the present moment with negative things, negative circumstances and negative people from the past.
So, there you have it. Those are my seven tips that bloggers can use to overcome their depression.
Now, I would like to state for the record, that these tips are not a substitute for antidepressants. If your doctor prescribed a certain type of medication for your depression, you should continue to take it.
The good news is, that those suggestions combined with your medical prescription for depression, should help you to overcome the blues.
