7 Reasons Why I Enjoy Doing Laundry

Yes, it is true. I enjoy doing laundry!

At times, I do find it hard to believe that there are people who hate doing their own laundry (Oh well, to each his/her own).

Now, this probably makes me one of those rare types of personalities that actually get a pleasure out of doing laundry.

Do you like doing laundry?

Or are you one of the many people who hate doing laundry?

1.) I Like To Play In Water

I liked playing in water when I was a child and in my adulthood, I still like playing in water.

Hey, you cannot blame me, because clean water on my skin feels very refreshing.

So, doing laundry can be perceived as an added bonus for someone who loves the refreshing feel of water on their skin.

Do you like playing in water?

2.) It Puts Me In A Tranquil Mood

Now, that should not be much of a surprise, because water has a calming effect.

Also, the idea of completing a task is a fulfilling one.

I usually smile whenever it is time for me to do laundry, because I know without a doubt, that the soiled fabric in the laundry basket is going to be washed clean.

And, most people are comforted with the idea of knowing that they will have clean clothing to put on, a clean sheet to put on the bed and a clean curtain to hang up by the window.

Therefore, I highly doubt that I am the only one who goes into a tranquil state of mind when they are doing their laundry.

3.) I Get The Opportunity To Experiment With Various Laundry Detergents

One of the nice things about doing laundry is, that you get to find out which laundry detergents work well and those that do not work well.

In The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, many of us use a laundry detergent known as, Breeze; it does a magnificent job at getting fabric clean.

There are other good laundry detergents on the market. But, I prefer to use what I know will surely get my laundry clean and fresh.

Do you have a favourite laundry detergent?

And, do you ever get annoyed when you have noticed that your favourite laundry detergent has been sold out when you go to the supermarket?

4.) I Get To Pass On My Knowledge To The Younger Generation

Many of us would not have learned to cook or clean, etcetera, without being taught by a parent or a guardian.

While growing up, I always paid close attention to how my mother did her laundry; I watched the amount of water she used for an average wash load and I also watched her measure the amount of laundry detergent that she added to her wash load.

I can pass on what I have learned to the younger generation (And, believe it or not, there are some teenagers and young adults who are clueless about the process of doing laundry).

Do you ever pass on what you have learned to the younger generation?

5.) It Gives Me A Sense Of Accomplishment

Do you know how nice it feels when you are finished with your laundry chore?

It feels great, of course.

Completing all of that laundry gives you that feeling of accomplishment (The greater the wash load, the greater the accomplishment).

Does finishing your laundry task fill you with a sense of accomplishment?

6.) Blogging Topic Ideas Tend To Come My Way When I Am Doing Laundry

Yes, folks. You better believe it.

I do get a lot of blog-related topics in my head when I am doing laundry.

The subconscious mind likes to provide us with relevant information on something else when we are deeply engaged in an activity.

Hey, in my case, the more laundry that I do, is the more ideas I receive on blog-related topics (Strange, but true).

And, which blogger do you know of that does not appreciate coming up with blog-related topic ideas?

7.) I Like Having Clean Fabric In Storage

Some of you might find this aspect of my enjoyment of doing laundry a bit odd. But it is comforting to know that I always have clean clothing to put on and having other clean fabric to utilise whenever I need it.

In The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, WASA (the company that supplies the entire country with pipe-borne water) does a bit of water scheduling; in my part of the country, there is no pipe-borne water on Wednesday nights and on Sunday nights; the pipe-borne water supply returns on Thursday mornings and on Monday mornings.

Thankfully, I have five days of uninterrupted pipe-borne water supply (And, laundry can be done on those days).

I do have a large tank that stores water; but I would prefer to use its content in extreme emergencies.

It is not uncommon to see large water tanks at the homes of the citizens.

So, you cannot blame me for the desire to have clean fabric in storage.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoy doing my own laundry; it is a fun activity.

The reality of the situation is, that laundry needs to be done.

Soiled fabrics are no fun to have around; especially soiled dark-coloured fabric which tends to get mildewed when they are left for a long period in the laundry basket.

I also understand that not everyone loves to do their laundry; which is why they pay to have it done at a laundry and dry cleaning service.

Some have stated that they have no time to do their laundry, because they are extremely busy. However, I would like those people to know, that they can get their quota of laundry done if they managed their time well.

Most people own washing machines anyway and those modern-day devices can be used to do their laundry while they do something else; for example: cooking or cleaning the household.

The God’s/Goddess’s truth is, that having dirty fabric of any kind around is inexcusable.

In my case, I feel very blessed knowing that I posses the knowledge of how to go about getting fabrics clean.
